Cabin Audio and Interphone System (CAIS)
The Cabin Audio and Interphone System consists of an ARINC 560
Passenger Address Amplifier (PAA) interfaced with its Digital
Passenger Announcement System (DPAS), customized attendant handsets
and certified loudspeakers, as well as the Audio Management Unit
(AMU) and the passenger entertainment system.
Each PAA can support 60 W output power on loudspeaker network in
the cabin. This allows the pilots and attendants to make
announcements (PA mode) and to talk to each other on two levels of
priority (CALL and EMER modes) when using the optional handsets.
The system also provides an intercom between cargo operators (ATT
mode) through the AMU. Additionally, the PAA also includes a chime
sound generator priority management module, and a built-in-test
module which can be interfaced to the Centralized Diagnostic System
(CDS).
The DPAS broadcasts announcements in various languages and music
to passengers. It allows storage and swift, easy broadcast of
high-quality sound data.
Public Address Amplifier System (PAAS)
The Public Address Amplifier System consists of an ARINC 715
Public Address Amplifier (PAA), optional handsets, certified
loudspeakers. It is interfaced with the Audio Management Unit
(AMU).
The PAA can provide 120 W of audio power to a set of cargo
loudspeakers and 22 W to cockpit/lavatory loudspeakers. It can
support x18 loudspeakers (8 ohms) in the cabin and 3 in the
cockpit. This allows the pilots and the cargo operators to make
public announcements (PA mode) and to talk to each other on two
levels of priority (CALL and EMER modes) when using the optional
handsets. The system also provides an intercom between cargo
operators (ATT mode) through the AMU. Additionally, the PAA
includes a chime sound generator, a priority management module and
a built-in-test module which can be interfaced to the Centralized
Maintenance System (CMS) through ARINC 429.
