PARIS, France: Cobham’s innovative Smart Plate touch controls are now available for G1 galleys on wide body and long range aircraft. This user-friendly touch panel exemplifies the use of new technologies such as tactile commands and integrated LED backlighted bar graph displays and indicators, all of which can be customised for various applications.
he Smart Plate is especially ideal for cabin crew use on galleys and value-added monuments thanks to legible symbol ergonomics which facilitate crew member tasks in busy galley zones. Since the initial launch in 2016, Cobham’s first Smart Plate has gone from strength to strength, with installations on ATR 42-600 and ATR 72-600 aircraft having doubled by the end of 2017.
As well as the new Smart Plate, Cobham’s LED Wi-Fi sign, developed and qualified in partnership with RUAG Aviation, is a modern cabin ordinance to inform passengers of Wi-Fi availability. The sign offers the combined advantages of a slim design and sharp optics, which result in high legibility whilst retaining a compact size. The capability to customize symbols means that signs for any requirement can be provided, such as ‘no smoking’ and ‘fasten seatbelt’ indicators. The sign has already been installed on a Falcon 900DX and a Pilatus PC-12, and is sure to be an essential element in any cabin with Wi-Fi connectivity.
To further improve passenger comfort and safety, Cobham has combined these innovative technologies to create the first Passenger Service Unit which integrates touch commands as well as high quality LED backlighted ordinance signs in a compact, modern design.
